Efficient and sustainable snow production at Nesfjellet
Modern technology and smart solutions result in more snow – with less use of resources
Snow production is one of the most important tasks we do ahead of the ski season. At Nesfjellet Alpin, winter preparations start early, and behind the white slopes there is a lot of planning, technology and dedicated work.
Here's a little insight into the scenes, where the team works around the clock to ensure perfect conditions when the snow finally settles.
Large investments yield big resultsLast season, significant investments were made in new technology and modernization of the snow cannon system.
This has given us the opportunity to produce snow more efficiently on several trails at the same time, and with a far lower water consumption than before.
Smart solutions for a lower environmental footprint An important step in the modernisation is that we now largely use water on natural falls. This means that the water flows to the plant without the need for energy-intensive pumping. It reduces both energy use and costs, and is part of our measures for a more sustainable operation.
Snow with care
Although snow production is about technology, it is also about timing, precision and love for the profession. Our employees work in the cold, often at night, to ensure a good and stable sole that forms the basis for the entire ski season.
